Ski tour

If you’re looking for peace and quiet in the great outdoors, you really should go on a ski tour. It’s a gentle way to experience the mountains in all their glory. In St. Johann in Salzburg, too, there are various marked touring routes just waiting to be explored. The most important rule when ski touring: safety comes first!

There are five ski touring routes in Snow Space Salzburg and the surrounding area. These ski touring routes may only be used during the slopes’ opening hours with a ski pass valid on the day of use or with a ski touring pass. You must carry your valid ticket with you at all times during the ascent and be prepared to show it if asked during checks.

The exception is the Hahnbaum ski touring route, which can be used free of charge!

Its location in the heart of the Salzburg region makes St. Johann in Salzburg an ideal starting point for ski tours of all lengths, surrounded by nature. Whether in the nearby valleys, such as the Großarl or Kleinarl valleys, at the foot of the Tennengebirge mountains, or on the Hochkönig.

For safety reasons, ski touring on the marked slopes in the Alpendorf ski resort is strictly prohibited. We make a quality commitment to our paying skiers. This includes not only a safe and comfortable ascent by cable car, but also well-maintained and safe descents on our slopes.

Between 08.30 and 19.00, ski touring is permitted at your own risk on the left-hand side (as viewed from below), OUTSIDE the marked edge of the piste from Alpendorf to the Kreistenalm, until further notice. The edge of the piste is marked with poles. From the Kreistenalm onwards, ski touring along the piste is not permitted.

From 7.00 pm to 8.30 am, all pistes in Alpendorf are closed to all winter sports enthusiasts without exception. We ask for your understanding. During this time, the slopes are being groomed for the following day’s skiing, and there is a risk of injury from snow grooming equipment, tracks, winch cables, power cables, hoses or snow cannons.
We hope that with this regulation we have found a satisfactory and, above all, safe solution for all winter sports enthusiasts in St. Johann in Salzburg. This should be seen as a gesture of goodwill on the part of the mountain railway company. Please understand that we will amend this policy if ski tourers on the slopes fail to respect the spirit of cooperation and the points outlined above.
