The history of the civil guard Saint Johann im Pongau dates back to 1593. The present formation was re-established after the Second World War in 1978. The company includes 90 active members. They march out for church and secular festivals.
Since 2016, the civil guards has had their own civil guards march. The world premiere took place for the anniversary on April 3, 2016. The civil guards are particularly proud of the historical rifles and the powder keg of the gunmen of the skies.
The volunteer fire brigade of Saint Johann im Pongau was founded in 1873 and currently has 105 members, of which 75 are in active service and 12 are part of the youth fire brigade. With 11 vehicles and 6 trailers, the fire brigade makes appearances in the local area of St. Johann and, with special equipment, also transregionally in the entire Pongau district.
The association is committed on a voluntary basis at any time of day or night. The mountain rescue St. Johann im Pongau is a team of 34 active mountain rescuers. The association operates on a voluntary basis and is responsible for rescue operations in the Alpine terrain for the following municipalities:
Since its founding in 1954, its task has been to save people from distress in the mountains. This means assisting hikers, skiers and tobogganists, or climbers in emergencies on the rough terrain. The sphere of duties of the mountain rescue also includes cooperation with other rescue organizations in case of mountain accidents in road traffic or disasters.
The St. Johanner Fuhrmannsgoasslschalzer were founded 1997 in St. Johann im Pongau. They whip theFuhrmannsgoassl (a traditional kind of whip) in musical harmony with concertinas and tubas. Mounted on horses, they snap the big whip in quadruple, sextuple, and octuple time. What's more, the beautiful Noriker horses are paraded in one, two, four and four-horse teams. The association is very proud to perform at festivals and traditional occasions.
Of the Warrior and Veterans Association St. Johann im Pongau was founded in 1869.

The Union Billiard Sport Club (UBSC) Pongau was founded in 1988 by some billiards enthusiasts and some experienced players. Organizationally, the UBSC Pongau, with more than 300 played tournaments is certainly one of the "event giants."
Due to the support of the township and the tourism association, a total of 4 European Championships and 12 international EuroTour prize tournaments could be brought to, and organized in, St. Johann from 2009 to 2017.
The UBSC has also done a lot for young people. From trial tournaments and training camps to Holiday calendar events for children and youths, they have always beaten the advertising drum for the billiards sport.

The Aufi & Owi mountain bike and running club was founded on 19/06/1992 and was one of the first mountain bike clubs in the province of Salzburg.
The club consists of the bike and run sections and includes 160 members, with offers all year round - community and socializing being in the foreground.
